It's been quite the joyride, for sure. Holding all three together has proved a huge feat, and I might have to move on from teaching soon (at least formally in the classroom as a full-time teacher). That said, I cherish now what I imagine will one day be some of the sweeter memories from my young adulthood. As my academic dean told me earlier this semester: You're in a very special and exciting time of life -- to which I promptly added "hectic and anxiety-inducing, too!" But she's right; she would know since she's further down the road of life with teenage children, one of which will be graduating in a few months. I am very grateful to be able to teach and write and have a lovely, growing family, all within the orienting, stabilizing, ancient rhythms of the Orthodox Church.
I know you moved on from the classroom some time ago, but I hope that writing spirit is still scratching (or typing?) away! Writing really beautifies life in a mysterious way, but I know it can be a challenge to sit down and get to it.
I love this combination of teaching, writing, and the church calendar. It's a crazy tension, but what a beautiful life!
